\"Uvita<\/a><\/p>\n

Mad About Diving is located within walking distance to the entrance of the national park in Uvita, which is a beach town just south of Dominical.<\/p>\n

In addition the having the famous “Whale Tail” beach, one of only two such formations in the world, Uvita has a variety of other beautiful beaches that include surf spots, snorkeling, and scuba diving.<\/p>\n

Mad About Diving’s instructor is Pablo, from Argentina, and he is passionate about “buceo” as scuba is called in Spanish. Their team offers scuba certification courses, a one-day “discover scuba” experience for beginners, as well as full divemaster courses for those who would like to start a professional career in scuba.<\/p>\n

Local Dive Sites<\/strong><\/p>\n

The company can take you to several local places such as the front of the whale’s tale, various rocks out in front of the beach, or the Marina Balleno National Park, but the real deal is Isla de Ca\u00f1o (Ca\u00f1o Island). <\/p>\n

One of the best dive spots in Costa Rica, Ca\u00f1o Island<\/a> is part of the national park system, and its rocky reefs are phenomenal for Costa Rica scuba diving.<\/p>\n

The journey from Uvita is very exciting. Mad About Diving’s boat is launched through the waves on the beach by their dive shop, and it’s normally an 80-minute journey out to the island. You can get there quicker from Drake Bay, but that requires a LOT of extra driving. So many prefer to drive down to Uvita from other areas and head out to Ca\u00f1o from there.<\/p>\n

Ca\u00f1o will not disappoint you. It’s famous for having tons of white tip reef sharks, immense schools of fish, all types of rays, including the giant mantas, and occasionally a huge “colossal sea bass” that can weigh 600-800 pounds!<\/p>\n

The Boat<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mad About Diving’s scuba boat is small and fast, with an oversized motor… ideal to jet out to the island as quickly as possible. The “Manolo Uno” will get you where you need to go with shade and velocity.<\/p>\n
